One of Memphis’ Most Respected and Experienced Accounting and Business Advisory Firms to Expand Depth and Reach as Part of Southeast Super-Regional Firm
MEMPHIS, Tennessee (January 29, 2008) – In a move that will strengthen the depth and reach of one of Memphis’ oldest and most respected accounting firms, and establish a major Memphis position for a Southeastern super-regional, Rhea & Ivy, P.L.C. and Dixon Hughes PLLC today announced the two firms will combine their teams effective February 1.
Rhea & Ivy has served the Memphis and Mid-South area since 1954 with a full array of accounting and business advisory services. Today the firm has nearly 70 employees and 12 Member Owners at its 6000 Poplar location in East Memphis.Dixon Hughes ranks among the nation's top 20 CPA firms and is the largest based in the Southeast. With a staff of more than 1,200 professionals located throughout seven states, the firm provides a wide array of assurance, tax and advisory services to organizations in a variety of industries.
Our joining with Dixon Hughes presents a tremendous strategic opportunity for our Rhea & Ivy team,” said Anthony Clark, CPA, and Chief Manager of Rhea & Ivy. “We believe this will be good for our clients, good for our employees and good for the overall Memphis business community.”
As of February 1, the firm will operate in Memphis under the Dixon Hughes brand name. The Rhea & Ivy team will remain in Memphis and continue serving their existing client relationships. In addition, an existing Dixon Hughes office in Memphis currently serving primarily automotive dealerships, will combine with the Memphis practice, bringing the total team to more than 90 people.
Our dedication to quality and hands-on service will only strengthen as part of Dixon Hughes,” said Clark. “Now our clients will experience access to even greater depth and resources – all through the same personal relationships we’ve worked hard to build over the years. We expect this will help us grow our business with existing clients and attract additional work that can leverage the depth and breadth of Dixon Hughes across the Southeast.”
Memphis and the Mid-South are critical to our success and growth, so we have been very careful and diligent in finding the right match for our firm,” said Ken Hughes, CPA, and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Dixon Hughes. “The reputation and quality of the Rhea & Ivy team are exactly what we have been looking for. Memphis will be one of the major offices for our firm.”
Hughes pointed out that the combined Memphis team can better serve its clients with access to specific industry expertise and immense resources not available to them before. Dixon Hughes’ core industry sectors are healthcare, dealerships, financial institutions, construction and real estate, insurance, manufacturing and distribution, government and not-for-profit, and litigation support/business valuation.
While Dixon Hughes serves clients across virtually all sectors, these particular areas are strengths that Rhea & Ivy will immediately tap into,” added Clark.
