Brian Cohn - Audit Senior
Brian began his career at Rhea & Ivy after attending college at University of Tennessee.
How did you find out about Rhea & Ivy?
- Members of the Rhea & Ivy team came to our campus for a recruiting event. They were knowledgeable and outgoing. I knew that I wanted to know more about this firm because it was attractive to me from many angles. I wanted to have the big city experience. Memphis has that small town charm and the big city appeal. In addition, I was so impressed by the Rhea & Ivy team, I wanted to see the office in person, meet the rest of the staff and learn more about the types of clients they serve.
Was it an easy decision to come here?
Once I had my office visit and interviews, it was a done deal. I had a lot in common with the staff. I could instantly tell that I was going to be able to learn a lot from them, and also have fun. It sounds silly, but I knew I would fit in here; I felt at home from the second I walked in the door. I also liked that they had a local client base and work mostly in the Memphis area. We have the best clients, and the best opportunity to learn and help all types of businesses succeed.
How has working at Rhea & Ivy affected your professional and personal lifestyle?
Professionally, it has exposed me to a variety of clients, industries and accounting issues I would not otherwise be familiar with. Audit gives you the opportunity to interact with many different people and issues, which keeps the work interesting - no two clients, or days are the same.
Personally, working at Rhea & Ivy has provided me with a very high quality of life. Memphis is a big city with a small town feel, and with the reasonable cost of living here, I was recently able to purchase a home. Many of my friends now live here, and Memphis is the kind of city where you see people you know whether you’re at a business lunch or the grocery store.
